Day 244: August 31, 2011

Today I am thankful for Jeopardy episodes that make me feel smart.

I remember watching Jeopardy as a kid and thinking that the contestants on the show were absolute geniuses. And when my parents knew the answers to the questions questions to the answers, I was shocked.

I am older and wiser now.
Some episodes are filled with questions I know and some episodes make me feel like  I clearly paid no attention in any of my many years of school because I'm stupid with a capital 'S'.
I know that just because I don't know the answers to the questions (Argh, I did it again! Questions to the answers...) it does not make me dumb. I know that when I know all the answers it does not make me a genius.
But it sure does make me feel like one!
There is nothing better than shouting "What is...!" at Alex Trebek.
It's especially great when none of the actual contestants get it right and I do.

Other awesome bonuses of watching Jeopardy in my house:

I have a husband who likes to imitate the Daily Double sound (boo doo-boo doo-boo doo-boo doo-doo-doo-doo!)
I also have a husband who likes to say "This is Jeopardy" all pronounced as if he is a Spanish Alex Trebek. I don't know where it came from or why it started, but I like it.

  1. haha...i totally feel smart when i know the answers too! but considering that i've watched tapings of this show multiple times (if ever you're down here on a tape day i can get you in the audience by the way!), believe me, these people work very hard to find tough questions that most people would never know. and by the way, the worst thing about watching jeopardy! live is that you have to remain completely silent...soooo hard when you know the answer!

p.s. i'd like a recording on here of nick doing the trebek voice please. :)

  2. YES! When we watched jeopardy growing up my dad would shout at all the contestants to "bet the lot!!!" when wagering for double jeopardy or final jeopardy hahaha. my favorite is when I happen to turn it on and it's college week and every question is feasible.
